Summer Activities

Summer Activities

Kunapipi is not only available for winter activities and the lodge is frequented by hikers and cyclists in the “non-snow” months. The attached photos show a cycling expedition undertaken by Ian Shaw (Treasurer) and friends over an Easter weekend. The cycle rides are great and can be undertaken on sealed as well as unsealed roads, depending on preferences and type of bicycle. The ride to Charlottes’ Pass is a favourite  however riding as far as Mt Kosciusko is an adventure for the keener or more sports minded cyclist. The days are usually warm but the nights, especially on the edge of seasons can be cold so go prepared for all weather. The ski room makes a great cycle room and can hold 16 bicycles at a pinch. One of the best parts of the summer visits is the summer rates. Much better than any motel, the scenery and facilities at Kunapipi are far superior. Truly to be recommended

Electonic Fee for Park Entry

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has commenced a project to introduce electronic fee collection at Kosciuszko National Park (KNP) to improve the visitor experience. This system will ease traffic congestion at entrances, providing quicker, safer and more convenient access to KNP.

While there will be no change to how fees will be collected for the 2017 ski season, the project is well underway. Solar powered cameras used for number plate recognition have been installed at four park locations (two on Alpine Way, one on Kosciuszko Road and one at Mt Selwyn) are currently being configured and tested.

In preparation for the 2017 winter season, it is important to ensure all Access Passes are valid prior to park entry. Day use fees paid or required to be paid while waiting for this pass cannot be waived or reimbursed. Those applying for an Access Pass will also need to ensure they have all the required paperwork at the time of lodgement.

I have enclosed a copy of the Access Pass application form and suggest that it is provided with offers of employment to ensure eligible employees can obtain a pass prior to their first entry. Access Passes can be obtained from local NPWS offices, visitor centres and entry stations or applications can be submitted via email to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
